Rock On

The SportDork is back stateside this week.  The purpose of this brief trip back to the U.S. was to catch Van Halen in Atlanta on Sunday night.  There's no need to read that again.  You had it right the first time.  Mrs. SportDork and I hopped on an international flight just to see Diamond Dave, Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang in person at Phillips Arena.  (Submit all comments regarding my lifestyle choices by clicking on the comment link at the bottom of this entry.)

Anyway, I mention this not to encourage endless queries regarding my mental state, but instead as a reason why I am postponing this week's entry to Friday.  A Tuesday, 9 AM EST deadline is tough to manage when you spend all day Monday incapacitated and then don't have the benefit of a five hour time difference that normally gives you an effective deadline of 2 PM on Tuesday.  Plus, now I can give you a thorough review of Roger Clemens' perjury session in front of Congress this week.  What fun!

I will leave you with my favorite highlight from the NFL Pro Bowl this weekend:

Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel.  They probably wish he had shown that kind of focus when trying to pick off Eli Manning passes during the Super Bowl.

I wish I had known you guys were on town-would have loved to see you! Speaking as someone who has slept outside ticket master to be first in line for tickets I don't find your flight over to see Van Halen in the least bit odd. Mel

Thank you for supporting my lifestyle choices.  It sure felt right, so I knew it couldn't be wrong.
The trip down to South Florida to see them for a second time was well worth it.  The second show was better than the first because of technical/sound issues at Phillips Arena.  I realized after the Atlanta show that I have never seen a concert at Phillips that didn't have some kind of sound issues.  They just can't seem to get their sh*t together when it comes to the sound at Phillips.  It was still a good show, but seeing them two nights later in Fort Lauderdale made it clear that they could sound even better.
We will have to catch up when we are back for good in April.  This was a very quick "here and back" trip.

Don't think for a second that Asante didn't tap that a*s.

    Go Pats!

The real question is, "Why didn't Asante tap that interception in the fourth quarter?"
