At Least It's Always Seventy-Five and Sunny!
Welcome to The SportDork's "Return To Work" Spectacular! Yesterday was my first day back. I contemplated calling in sick, but decided that such a move might not convey the level of enthusiasm that my boss was looking for upon my return. Instead, I did two things to demonstrate that I am committed to a successful career.

After one day back, I have two observations:
1) Work can really get in the way when you're trying to put together your weekly blog entry. How am I supposed to meet a 9 am publication deadline when I'm stuck in a staffing meeting?
2) After one day back, I already know what I will miss most about spending my days at home: the ability to fart with reckless abandon. It's a highly underrated perk of joblessness. I think I spent most of yesterday holding in gas. I need to go track down our HR guy. I think I may have a worker's comp claim.
One administrative note before I get back to managing by walking around: starting this week, I will begin responding to comments on a rolling basis, rather than responding to all of the comments from the week at the same time that I publish the weekly entry. This move is intended to spread out some of the blog 'work' over the course of the week, since I no longer have a large block of free time on Mondays to deal with both the week's entry and reader comments. I know - it's a controversial move, but I think it will be best for everyone in the long run. Also, and I think this is fairly obvious by now, the weekly entry will continue to be posted on Tuesday, but it might not be Tuesday morning. I'm in no position to limit myself to Tuesday morning anymore. You'll get it some time Tuesday, and that's as specific as I'm going to get. I think it'll add an element of excitement. Maybe we'll start a pool - guess what time the weekly entry will be published. Winner gets a bag of Crest White Strips.
Gotta go. I think someone took my stapler.

Don't worry. After 5 years of retirement I have finally discovered that Tuesday is just a concept. So your flexibility remains intact. No apologies necessary. Keep up the good work.

If you don't mind, I'm going to start using that one around the office, particularly when I'm about to miss a deadline. As in, "I don't know what you're so upset about Stan. I know I said I'd have it to you by Thursday, but let's face it - isn't Thursday just a concept?"
I think it's gonna be a big hit. And for providing such inspiration, you have earned Comment Of The Week Honors!!!
