In The Words Of Jim Nantz, "Scratch 'Em, Horns!"
The third weekend in September is always an exciting time for The SportDork. Not only does it bring the annual clash between Florida and Tennessee, but it also signifies that a) I am another year older and b) yet another year of wedded bliss to Mrs. SportDork has passed. Yes, a birthday, an anniversary (strategically placed a day before my birthday, thus ensuring that I will never forget my anniversary), and Lane Kiffin - all packed into one glorious weekend. With so many big events stuffed into one weekend, I was shocked when I looked back and discovered that my favorite moment unexpectedly occurred during the Bears/Steelers game on Sunday afternoon.
After the Bears' Alex Brown made a great play late in the game to prevent the Steelers from a first down, he hopped up and performed the following act in honor of his alma mater, the mighty Florida Gators:
Not, in and of itself, a very remarkable moment in sports, since Alex is a very proud Gator alum and often reverts to this celebratory move when he makes a big play. What was remarkable, however, was Jim Nantz referring to the move as none other than "the Gator Clap."
Seriously? Listen, Jim - I think I had the Gator Clap back in '94, and I can tell you right now, unless he's experiencing significant pain and burning while urinating and has just begun a ten-day course of some kind of penicillin-based antibiotic, that's not the Gator Clap. It's the Gator Chomp. It's the signature gesture of the number one ranked college football team in the country and winner of two of the last three national championships. Hell, its even got its own Wikipedia page, and we all know that if it's on Wikipedia, it's got to be legit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gator_Chomp
Do the Braves do the 'Tomahawk Wave'? Do the Vols sing 'Bumpy Top'?
Maybe it's time for Jim to stick to golf.

Happy belated birthday and anniversary!!
