Let's Go Bowling!!

College football bowl season is upon us!!  I don't know about you, but I'm so fired up for The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl between Utah and California tonight that I'm about to lose my mind.  And how about Nevada and SMU in the Hawaii Bowl tomorrow night?  I've been waiting all year to get a good look at the Wolf Pack and the Mustangs, and Christmas Eve is the perfect opportunity!  The only question is how I'm going to get through the day and a half between that game and the Little Caesar's Bowl on December 26th.  Marshall and Ohio?  All I know is that when you put the Thundering Herd and the Bob Cats on the same field in Detroit and bust out a few orders of Crazy Bread, that's a party.  I think the critics of a playoff system in college football may have it right.  How could we live without the pageantry and tradition of the Meineke Bowl?  And even if these bowls weren't eliminated, what would a playoff do to the massive national interest in these kind of compelling matchups?  It would devastate it!  These bowls would go from prime time, signature sporting events followed by tens of hundreds of people to laughable side-shows watched by college football addicts.  We can't let that happen.

Just say no to a playoff!!

Next Week:  A SportDork bowl season spectacular featuring in-depth analysis of bowls involving teams you've actually heard of.

In the spirit of the holidays, I'll leave the SportDork Nation with my favorite holiday picture from this season.  Many of you have probably seen it before, but it never gets old:

Happy Holidays!!!
