Code Red
I just regained consciousness after hearing about Urban's resignation. If any event ever warranted an impromptu post, this is it. It's midnight, and The SportDork is, ironically, in Tallahassee celebrating the holidays. Celebrating, that is, until now.
I keep waiting for Allen Funt - or Ashton Kucher - to come out from behind the living room curtains to let me know it's all a big joke. Instead, all I keep getting are more details from ESPN on Urban's departure courtesy of Slingbox on my laptop, and they keep saying the same thing: Urban Meyer is gone.
You know it's bad when you get texts from friends who hate the Gators, and rather than taunt you, they say things like, ""Wow!" or "That sucks!" or "WTF?"
When you don't even feel right taunting an opponent, it's serious.
Since I am fairly well lubricated - it was all I could do in the face of the most devastating Gator news since 2002 - I will share my two immediate thoughts when I heard the news and will promise to share many more in the coming days:
1) I hope he's o.k., and I'm grateful for all that he has done for Florida football.
2) If I see him coaching on a college football sideline other than the Gators' for the rest of my life, I will not be responsible for my actions.
